The Select Six
In case three’s not enough, or more variety is what you’re after, these six wines have been carefully chosen and are a great sample of the variety and quality of Tasmania’s best wine producers.
May/June 2026 Selections Include:
Frankcomb 2024 Chardonnay
Elegant and quietly luxurious, this Huon Valley Chardonnay combines cool-climate freshness with soft, generous texture. Handpicked fruit was whole bunch pressed and fermented in French oak barriques, with full malolactic fermentation adding richness and depth.
White nectarine, peach blossom and ripe stone fruit aromas rise from the glass, followed by layers of cashew, cream and subtle oak spice. Lees ageing and gentle stirring have created a beautifully rounded palate while preserving freshness and finesse.
Long, soft and wonderfully balanced, this Chardonnay shines alongside oysters, seafood and creamy chicken dishes, while promising graceful ageing over the years ahead.
Woodlawn NV Sparkling Cuvée
An effortlessly drinkable sparkling built for celebrations both big and small. Predominantly Pinot Noir with a touch of Chardonnay, this non-vintage cuvée captures the brightness and elegance of Tasmania’s cool-climate fruit.
Whole bunch pressed and cool fermented, the wine spent 14 months on lees, creating gentle layers of brioche and creaminess while retaining freshness and lift. The Chardonnay component, softened through malolactic fermentation, brings texture and balance to the lively acidity of the Pinot Noir.
Fresh citrus, crisp apple and subtle toasted notes glide across the palate, finishing clean, vibrant and moreish. A sparkling designed to be opened often.
Westella Clairmarais
Made entirely from Pinot Noir grown on Westella’s Rowella vineyard, Clairmarais is a sparkling with charm, personality and unmistakable Tamar Valley energy. Produced using the traditional method and aged on lees, this inaugural release reflects the vineyard’s dedication to crafting sparkling wines solely from Pinot Noir.
A deeper blush hue hints at the richness to come. Bright strawberry, wild raspberry and red cherry flavours burst through the palate, balanced by lively citrus freshness and a creamy mousse. Time on skins brings texture and vibrancy, while lees ageing adds softness and complexity.
Named after the original farm that once occupied the vineyard site, Clairmarais is joyful, generous and impossible not to love.
Bear & Bird 2024 Pinot Noir
Elegant, silky and unmistakably Coal Valley. This Pinot Noir captures the region’s wild beauty through bright fruit, savoury spice and graceful structure.
Layers of cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry glide across the palate, balanced by earthy undertones and gentle spice. Supple tannins bring softness and flow, while the cool-climate acidity keeps everything vibrant and poised.
Smooth, juicy and quietly complex, this is a Pinot Noir that feels both comforting and refined.
Highclare 2024 Pinot Gris
Grown high on a rare north-east facing slope in the Tamar Valley, this Pinot Gris is shaped by rich red soils layered over ancient dolerite rock. A site that demanded determination to establish, but rewards it beautifully in the glass.
Fragrant florals and ripe orchard fruits lead into a textured palate layered with pear, white peach and gentle spice. Beneath the fruit sits a distinct mineral thread, drawn from the vineyard’s unique geology and giving the wine length and precision.
Handpicked and single vineyard, this is Pinot Gris with both generosity and remarkable purity. A satisfyingly dry finish ties everything together effortlessly.
Westella 2024 Pinot Noir
A rich and beautifully structured Pinot Noir from Westella’s single Rowella vineyard in the Upper Tamar Valley. Crafted entirely from estate-grown Pinot Noir, this wine reflects both the generosity of the warm 2024 season and the freshness the site consistently delivers.
Lifted aromas of cherry, plum, clove and fennel rise from the glass, while the palate shows impressive depth and concentration. Dark fruits flow through to a long finish, framed by fine, lacy tannins and bright natural acidity.
Matured in premium French oak barriques, this Pinot Noir is generous yet elegant. Enjoy now for its youthful richness or cellar confidently for years to come.
