The Select Six
In case three’s not enough, or more variety is what you’re after, these six wines have been carefully chosen and are a great sample of the variety and quality of Tasmania’s best wine producers.
July/August 2026 Selections Include:
WESTELLA 2025 White Pinot
Westella grows only Pinot Noir on their 10-acre Tamar Valley family vineyard — it's all they do, and they do it beautifully. The White Pinot is exactly that: Pinot Noir vinified as a white wine, whole bunch pressed to keep the colour out and the freshness in. The result is something genuinely distinctive. Delicate stone fruit and floral lift on the nose, a fine and silky texture on the palate, and a refreshing, mineral-driven finish. Cool. Restrained. Quietly very good.
AUNT ALICE 2025 “Down By The River” Riesling
Alice Winen built Aunt Alice from scratch — hand-picked fruit, borrowed spaces, late nights labelling by hand. She's now based in the Huon Valley making wines that taste like where they're from. The 'Down By The River' Riesling comes from a single vineyard in the Coal River Valley, cool fermented in stainless steel to preserve every bit of aromatic lift. Classic Riesling on the nose — lemon, lime, white jasmine and lily flowers. The palate bursts with pear and green apple, balanced by crystalline natural acidity and just a whisper of residual sugar that makes it sing rather than sweeten. Intense, clean and long.
BELLEBONNE NV Bis Rosé
'Bis' is French for 'the space in-between' — the intersection of vintage and vision that defines this non-vintage rosé. Made entirely from Pipers River Pinot Noir and crafted in the traditional method with up to two years on lees, this is sparkling rosé of uncommon depth and refinement.
The aromas are a melody of strawberry, Turkish delight and rose petal. The palate is elegant and long with textures of fresh cream, brioche and delicate fruit — blood orange and wild strawberry woven through a creamy, honeyed richness that carries to a clean, lingering finish.
BANGOR 2023 “Eccles” Sparkling Rosé
Bangor's very first vintage Sparkling Rosé is named for Ann Eccles, a name woven into the property's long Dunbabin family history. 2023 was a cool, wet season that delivered low yields and the kind of natural acidity you can't manufacture. A fine and persistent bead, beautiful pink with copper tones, red fruit perfume and a strawberries-and-cream palate with a delicate hint of sweetness at the finish. Méthode traditionnelle, made entirely from Bangor's estate Pinot Noir. Matt and Vanessa describe it as a stunning sparkling for any celebration. We agree.
OBSESSIONIST 2024 Malbec
A half-hectare block. A family vineyard on the East Coast. Twenty years of viticulture experience and the obsessive conviction that Malbec could work in this part of Tasmania. That's the story behind Obsessionist, and the wine delivers on every bit of it. Deep colour, concentrated Malbec fruit — black cherry, blueberry and violet florals — with elegant spice, fine tannins and a savoury complexity that puts it well beyond the novelty of an unusual variety. Single site, small batch.
2FORTY9 2025 Pinot Noir
The 4th generation of the Green family farm Wattlebanks at Campania in the Coal River Valley, where Pinot Noir was planted from scratch in 2016. 2forty9 grows nothing else. Their 2025 is juicy and ripe with berry fruit, balanced by fine silky tannins and just the right touch of oak. A small-batch, family-run estate making honest, site-driven Pinot from the heart of one of Tasmania's most prized red wine regions.
